Rebecca Fairall Rebecca Fairall Returns From Her Hawaiian Vacation! ALOHA! Let me say how wonderful our trip was! AHHHH! We didn't want to come back at all. It was a struggle getting on the plane to come back to Kansas. HA!!! We showed up at the Waikiki Beachside and presented our paper ticket and they said that they would honor it but that the rooms were pretty small - Paul went up and looked and agreed. They then suggested the Waikiki Beach, which is also with Aston. We went down the road about two blocks and said we'd take it. We got an ocean front room and with being the last hotel on the strip we had a great view of Diamond head too. It was amazing!!! The room was a corner room so views were unobstructed. We were very pleased. The hotel was a little run down - carpet wise and such but for the most part it was well taken care of. The service people were extremely helpful. The restaurant that was on-site was great. Tiki's Bar and Grill. The hotel was far enough away from the main shopping area that we didn't have the noise but close enough that we could walk down and shop if we wanted to. We'll definitely stay in the same hotel the next time we go back. Paul's family stayed in the Ohana Reef Towers. Due to the hotel grade difference, it was a little more rundown than our hotel but they did give them penthouse suites - which they were very pleased with because they had a view of the ocean and Diamond Head. We were all VERY pleased with the cost of the trip and feel we got a great deal for what we all paid. Thank you so much Pat for all of your help with this trip. On the way from Seattle to Salt Lake City, Delta overbooked us on the flight. So for compensation they gave us a check for $400 U.S. each!!! AND a direct flight to Hawaii on Hawaiian Air. ( I think my wife bought out the Waikiki Beach strip malls ) Weather was beautiful, 88- 92 degrees F everyday with an ocean breeze. We arrived in Honolulu 4 hours earlier than we would have been via, Seattle, Salt Lake, San Francisco, Honolulu. The hotel was very nice, just what we needed, clean, and comfortable with air conditioning, and a small fridge, sink, king sized bed. The concierges were very helpful and friendly. On the return flight we went via Honolulu, LA, Salt Lake City, Seattle. We have both decided that if we ever go again, to Hawaii (or almost anywhere else) we will fly direct flight or bust.!! We will likely be going back in mid August 2005 ( 10 wedding anniversary ) but will likely stay on Maui or Kauai. P. Meek Went To Hawaii: Hello, Basically it's just like they stated, you have to pay taxes like the new 911 tax the airlines charge for each takeoff and landing and the hotel tax. We went in a hurry also only gave them 30 days notice they worked hard to get us the dates we needed, Daughter was on fall break from school so we took our vacation from work, they charged us an extra $100.00 for the short notice.
